Player-First Experience.

Championing the player has always been the basis of my thinking, giving me a strong drive to help craft engaging and enjoyable player experiences.

 

I want to approach each design task with empathy and any data analysis to understand player behaviour.  It's important that any game app build that foundational framework of usability and balance. Providing meaningful choice, challenge, depth, and reward to increase player value.

Player Goals.

I believe it is necessary to understand the player’s goals / target audience and in turn solve complex design problems with simple solutions.

 

Finding that right balance in player interaction, striving to improve usability, ease of navigation, player convenience and optimising wherever possible.

 

Developing and evaluating from user flows to low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes. I understand design perfection is unknowable as we will need to be constantly testing, validating, re-iterating, and then testing again.

Visual Identity.

Big advocator on the importance of human-centred interface, pushing for innovation, whilst optimising interaction costs and maintaining logical solutions, that can build trust and inspire.

 

Providing a series of visual styles and workshop variations, looking at placement of key functionality, the effectiveness of typography and the consistency of theming.  With testing and further adjustments, we can validate that the final variation is understandable, and more engaging user experience.

 

Lastly building a suite of components to populate the rest of the game and animations / transitions to further drive that narrative, theming and improve clarity.

I’d say I have a strong perseverance for learning new things and taking on challenges, open-minded and willing to try more efficient tools to streamline better. I'm happy to be introduced to better design practices and more effective agile approaches.

 

Really keen on designing things that can be built, knowing what the engine and tools can do, to better assess the circumstances, and find the best solution.

Eggstraction.

Concepting / UI / UX / Wireframing / ENGINE Implementation

Working with a Netflix Games on a real-time action stealth-game based on Chicken Run IP.

 

The game blends the strategic, tense, fun of stealth games with chaotic party games that matches the brand and target audience. Launching on mobile iOS & Android first with the intention of releasing on PC and consoles.

 

Working on the game with talented animators, designers and engineers with multi-gifted cross discipline team that helped and supported each other. The number one priority was to create a game that is inventive and creative and still oozes continues to play on the themes and personality of the brand.

I’ve over 13 years commercial experience in design. I’ve been given the opportunity to work alongside talented people in the industry at large international brands, as well as some exciting start-ups, in the retail, technology, and broadcasting industries.
